Updated version for Nicaragua here:
I participated in the World Surfing Games in Peru last autumn, where I surfed for the Swiss team. We finished on the 15th rank (from 23 nations), and I was on 43th place, from around 80 men. I’m definitely happy with my result, but not with how I surfed. In spring 2015, i participated once again at the WSG, this time in Nicaragua. This time i was fit and ready, but the the level of surfing over all was much higher and i had really tough heats. Unfortunately i fell out early and didn’t surf my best.
But no complains, this is competition surfing and i’m super stoked i could be there.
Join me on my next trip to Sri Lanka in August, and Spain in September on Facebook and see how a landlocked surfer tries to stay fit and enjoyed a Swiss summer.
I come from a place where the air is free of pollution, where the drinking water is for free and as good as the fanciest bottled water. Where education is for free and we are free to say what we think. We are so incredible free that we’re neutral! I’m from Switzerland, a country blessed with countless freedoms but no beaches. Growing up doing all kinds of sports and loving most of them, it was probable my joy of swimming in a lake and feeling the sun kiss my skin mixed with the delight of snowboarding that made me want to try surfing. I went to France to a surf camp and fell in love with it instantly. For the next few years i lived the same life as most land locked surfer. Surf 2 weeks a year and dream of it for the other 50. As this wasn’t a good balance, i started to save up money, got rid of some stuff i didn’t need anymore and bought a ticket to Australia. My initial plan was to be away for 7 months, that’s now more that 9 years ago! I hope to give you a few ideas and to encourage some of you to do what you want to do, doesn’t matter if this is a trip around the world or just something small. This page is not a encyclopedia, maybe some things are not perfectly accurate, or maybe some things are just writen from a personal point of view or how it seams to be. Maybe it’s just stories i’ve been told along the way or I even mixed it up. If something sounds interesting to you, find other sources and check it up. Same if something sounds totally wrong to you, BUT in this case, please let me know.
